Single-candle candlestick by John Schofield fl. 1776–1796. Classicism/Georgian/George III style. Single-candle candlestick supported on a circular profiled stepped foot, decorated with a knurled band of stylised acanthus twig with flowers on a seeded background; faceted stem enclosed at the bottom by lanceolate leaves, widening towards the top and terminating in a ring decorated with knurled oak leaves; vase sleeve with lanceolate leaves at the bottom, faceted above with a slightly rolled-up edge. Dated 1789/1790. London, England. Material: metal — lighting object. Height 29.8 cm; width 13.8 cm; weight approx. 680 g., A tall, slender metal candlestick with a flared cup at the top, a narrow stem with decorative fluted and leaf-like patterns, and a round stepped base featuring a band of raised ornamental motifs; the object appears smooth and reflective with visible highlights and shadows, and the colors visible are shades of silver, gray, and white.
