Classicist two-armed candelabra by John Schofield fl. 1776–1796, goldsmith; classicism/Georgian/George III style. On a square base surrounded by godron ornament, passing into a circular foot decorated with a surrounding rosette; faceted stem enclosed at the top with a knurled floral tendril, terminating in a vase-shaped socket decorated with acanthus leaves and facets, edged with godrons, containing two faceted, rotating arms ending with plate-shaped profils and vase-shaped candle holders, separated by a decorative vase with a lid. Engraved on several elements with a tied monogram PHB, dated 1786/1787. London, England. Lighting. Height 47.5 cm, width 38 cm, depth 13 cm, weight 850 g., A silver-colored metal candelabrum with a central fluted stem rising from a square base that has a ridged edge and a ridged, fan-like circular detail where the stem meets the base; the stem features decorative fluting and a few carved ornamental bands, leading to a central platform with a small domed finial and an intertwined looped metal detail around it; two curved arms extend outward and upward from the central section, each ending in a round drip plate with a ridged rim and a fluted candle socket above it, all surfaces showing polished metallic highlights and soft gray reflections against a light gray background.
