Classicist Two-Armed Candelabra, Schofield, John fl. 1776–1796 goldsmith; classicism, Georgian/George III style. Classicist two-armed candelabra on a square base surrounded by godron ornament, passing into a circular foot decorated with a surrounding rosette; faceted stem enclosed at the top with a knurled floral tendril, terminating in a vase-shaped socket decorated with acanthus leaves and facets, edged with godrons, in which is set a setting in the form of two faceted, rotating arms ending with plate-shaped profils and vase-shaped candle holders, separated by a decorative vase with a lid. Engraved on several elements with a tied monogram PHB, dated 1786/1787, London, England, Great Britain. Function: lighting. Dimensions: height 47.5 cm, width 38 cm, depth 13 cm; weight 850 g., A tall ornate metal candlestick stands against a neutral gray background; it has a square base with fluted and beaded edges, a tapered fluted column rising to an intricately molded central section with acanthus-like motifs, and multiple decorative circular drip pans and candle holders near the top with curved, ribbon-like metal accents; the visible colors are silvery metallic and shades of gray.
