Tea caddy by Nash, Bowles fl. 1720–ca.1725, goldsmith; rococo style. Cuboid tea caddy with a circular domed lid and a bowl on the top; chamfered side edges; movable slide-in bottom. Surface decorated with repoussé ornament with floral and rocaille motifs on a grained background; front features an oval rocaille cartouche topped with an eagle, with engraved inscription inside: KENNETH Mc LEOD, / to his much loved Sister / ANNE ZABA, / Octr 23 rd 1848; back wall with a bouquet of flowers; side walls with blooming, leafy roses. Engraved A on the bottom. Date: 1723/1724 tins; mid-19th century decoration. Place of origin: London, England. Function: vessel for loose-leaf tea tea accessory. Materials: metal tins. Dimensions: height 12 cm, width 7.7 cm, depth 5.7 cm; weight ca. 230 g., A single ornate metallic container with a hexagonal base and a domed removable lid sits against a plain background; the surface shows intricate raised floral and leaf motifs on each vertical panel and scalloped decorative borders, with textured areas contrasting smooth polished sections. The object appears primarily silver in color with variations in shading from bright highlights to darker gray shadows, and the background is a pale light gray.
