Two-candle candelabrum by Charles Hougham fl. 1769–1793. Classicism; George III/Georgian style. Two-armed candelabrum on an oval foot bordered with pearling and decorated with a knobbed rosette. Conical, fluted stem topped with a vase-shaped socket containing a setting with two S-shaped arms terminating in saucers and vase-shaped sockets with profiled fittings; between the arms is a vase topped with a ball. Sleeves decorated halfway with vertical flutes, smooth above. Materials: presumed silver; function: lighting. Date: 1787/1788. Place: London, England. Height 38 cm; width 39 cm; depth 12 cm; weight 1060 g., A tall metallic candlestick stands against a plain light background, showing a silvery surface with polished highlights and subtle darker reflections; the base is wide and round with fluted, fan-like ridges and a beaded decorative edge, the stem tapers upward with vertical fluting and a smooth rounded knop, and the top narrows to a cup-shaped holder with scalloped detailing beneath and a slightly recessed rim.
