Two-candle candelabrum, Hougham, Charles fl. 1769–1793 goldsmith; classicism, George III/Georgian style; two-armed candelabrum on an oval foot bordered with pearling and decorated with a knobbed rosette. Conical, fluted stem topped with a vase-shaped socket, with a setting of two S-shaped arms terminating in saucers and vase-shaped sockets; centre between the arms a vase topped with a ball; sleeves decorated halfway with vertical flutes, smooth above. 1787/1788, London, England. Function: lighting. Height 38 cm, width 39 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 1060 g., A silver three-armed candelabrum stands against a neutral gray background, with a tall fluted central stem rising from a domed circular base that has radiating fluted grooves and a beaded rim; the central column features vertical fluting and decorative beaded and scalloped bands, leading to an urn-shaped central cup topped by a small domed finial. Two curved scrolling arms extend symmetrically from the central platform, each ending in an urn-shaped candle holder seated on a shallow drip pan with a beaded edge, and the metal surface shows reflective highlights in silver and bright metallic tones with subtle darker gray shadows accentuating the fluting and contours.
