Buliera kettle for boiling water, maker: Benjamin Gignac fl. 1745–1774, goldsmith; rocaille ornament, rococo style, Georgian/George II influences; plant and floral ornament. Rococo kettle, spherical with a flat bow mounted on volutes; side spout; centrally arched cover topped with a pine cone; decorated with repoussé rococo decoration and flowers; includes two engraved coats of arms — one four-field in an oval under a baronial crown, the second in an illegible shield. Missing base with a heater. Dated 1753/1754, London, England, Great Britain. Vessel; height 22 cm, width 24 cm, depth 19 cm, weight 848 g., A metallic object with a reflective silver surface sits against a pale gray background; it has a rounded base with a low rim and a domed lid that rises to a textured finial shaped like a pinecone. The lid and dome show engraved floral and leafy patterns with areas of darker tarnish and subtle shadows that emphasize the embossed details. The overall colors visible are silver, gray, and small darker gray accents from tarnish and shadows.
