Single-candle candlestick, maker William fl. 1757–ca. 1802, rococo style; scrap — purchase; decorated with plant ornaments, shells, rocailles, cartouches, flowers and acanthus leaves. Rococo piece on a raised domed foot with a hexagonal rim, flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Decoration slightly spirally twisted. Date: 1763/1764. Place of origin: London, England, Great Britain. Function: lighting. Height: 29 cm; diameter: 16.9 cm; weight: 717 g., A single metallic object with a cylindrical stem supporting a shallow, round dish-like top that has a raised, ornate rim with curved, organic-looking embossed details; the surface appears smooth and reflective with some visible scuffs and slight texture variations. Colors visible include silver tones and subtle gray variations against a pale gray background.
