Single-candle candlestick by William Cafe fl. 1757–ca. 1802, 1763/1764. Silver, rococo decoration in the George II style: rocailles, plant tendrils, flowers, cartouches, shells and acanthus leaves. Rocaille ornament, relief decoration; raised domed foot with hexagonal rim decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Entire decoration is slightly spirally twisted. Country of origin: Great Britain England, London. Function: lighting. Height 29 cm; diameter 16.9 cm; weight 695 g., A round metallic object with a scalloped outer edge and a central circular hole, shown from above, displaying a worn and slightly scratched surface in shades of silver and gray with darker gray visible inside the central hole and a pale gray background.
