Single-candle candlestick by William Cafe fl. 1757–ca. 1802, silver, rococo George II style, 1763/1764, London, England, Great Britain. Rocaille ornament, plant tendrils, flowers, shells, cartouches, acanthus leaves; relief decoration slightly spirally twisted. Rococo on a raised domed foot with a hexagonal rim decorated with flower heads at the corners, passing into a baluster shaft and terminating in a vase-shaped socket with a disc-shaped drip pan. Function: lighting. Height 29 cm; diameter 16.9 cm; weight 695 g., A single ornate candlestick with a metallic surface in shades of silver and gray, featuring a decorative flared top, an elongated stem with sculpted floral and leaf motifs, and a wide decorative base adorned with raised flowers and scrolling details.
