Oval platter by Benjamin & James Smith fl. 1809–1812, goldsmiths; Georgian/George III style, oval vessel with smooth mirror and multi-leaf ribbed collar edged with a godron band with four shells on axes, enclosed within acanthus leaves; godron ornaments, shells, acanthus ornament. Engraved coats of arms on collar; underside of collar engraved monogram GvR, dated 1811/1812. Materials: goldsmith's work. Dimensions: height 3.5 cm; width 58.5 cm; depth 45.4 cm; weight 3550 g. Places: Great Britain, England, London., A large oval metal tray with an ornate scalloped rim and decorative handles rests against a pale background; the tray has a reflective silvery surface with visible fine scratches and wear, and the rim features detailed embossed patterns and flowing curves in shades of silver and gray.
