Openwork fruit basket by Harris, CS & Sons London; goldsmiths, fl. 1817–1933 and Charles Stuart Harris fl. 1852–1897. Oval openwork fruit basket supported on four palmette legs with a lower edge decorated with C-sections. Sides feature openwork composed of circle and grid motifs with applied laurel garlands, medallions, and rosettes. Upper edge cut in a wavy pattern and decorated with a godron ribbon; raised on the longer axis and decorated with acanthus leaves, and on the shorter axis with palmettes. Contains palmettes, bay leaves, garlands, godron ornaments, and medallions., A shallow round decorative dish viewed from above with an openwork rim featuring repeating quatrefoil-shaped cutouts and undulating raised bands; the central flat surface is smooth and reflective. The rim has a notched edge and two small protruding handles with floral rosette motifs where they attach to the rim. The object appears metallic with a predominantly silver color and subtle variations including slightly darker gray areas and faint tarnish. The background is plain and light, showing shades of off-white and very pale gray.
