In the foreground a group of several oxen are yoked and being led along a rough, stony path by two people wearing simple, long outer garments and hats, one walking in front and one behind holding a plow or yoke. Two dogs run alongside them. In the distance on a low ridge a small group of riders on horseback can be seen in silhouette, and to the right there are a few trees and a suggestion of small buildings. The overall tones are shades of gray, black, and off-white.
