The colors include browns, greens, grays, blues, and touches of red and yellow. Several figures wear metallic helmets and armor in silvery and gray tones, and a few wear darker brown or black clothing and hats. A group of horses appears with blue and pale coats and decorative cloth in darker colors. In the background there are thatched roofs with areas of darker brown and some lighter smoke-gray brushstrokes rising near them. A few figures sit or recline on the ground or near the buildings wearing muted earth-toned garments and lighter head coverings. Trees with green foliage and a grassy foreground with brown earth occupy parts of the middle ground, and a few vertical poles or standards with colored banners stand among the standing figures. Overall the composition uses muted, earthy tones with highlights of blue, red, and metallic gray.
