A mounted figure on horseback wearing darker clothing rides along the path toward the foreground. To the left, there is a thatched-roof structure partially obscured by trees, and a few small figures are scattered near it. The center and right foreground display a jumble of fallen logs and rough earthen ground with a few charred or darkened areas and some smoke or haze rising. In the midground and background, there are additional small groups of figures standing or gathered on a low ridge. The overall palette is brown and beige with variations of sepia tones and muted off-white highlights.
