Letter to Maria Mickiewiczówna with a drawing self-portrait of the artist bathing in the sea, Tadeusz Makowski 1882–1932, addressee Maria Mickiewicz 1868–1952; themes: self-portrait, painters, painting accessories, portraits of artists, easels, bathing, sea; watercolor manuscript letter; dated upper left corner 3 Sept. no year, 1927 provenance note; place: Saint-Quentin-la-Motte-Croix-au-Bail; dimensions: height 17.5 cm, width 21.6 cm., A sheet of off-white paper with a handwritten letter covering most of the page, written in brown ink with flowing cursive lines; the top left and center have slightly darker handwriting and the rest is densely filled, with some faded spots and light creases across the paper. Along the lower right area there are multiple small ink doodles including a scribble, a roughly drawn circular face or palette with marks extending outward, and a simple sketch of a hand; the bottom edge shows some small printed markings in darker ink. The paper shows subtle discoloration and a vertical fold down the center, and the overall colors visible are shades of beige, light tan, brown, and darker brown from the ink.
