Name day card for Maria Mickiewiczówna by Tadeusz Makowski 1882–1932. Drawing on both sides of a card; includes self-portraits, portrait of Maria Mickiewicz 1868–1952, depiction of painters, portraits of artists, easels, men's portraits, and name day wishes. Inscribed as a letter; dated September 1917, created in Le Pouldu. Medium: drawing; dimensions: height 22.9 cm, width 17.9 cm., The image shows a hand-painted scene with pastel and muted colors including green, blue, pink, purple, brown, beige, yellow, and black. A central tall figure in green stands holding a bouquet of multicolored flowers while a group of several smaller figures in dresses and aprons, in shades of blue, green, brown, and gray, hold hands and form a circle around the central figure. Above them is a curved arch suggesting a horizon, beyond which a body of water in wavy blue and green tones stretches across the middle of the picture with a small brown sailboat on it. Leafless tree branches in dark green and brown rise from either side and several birds in dark and greenish hues perch on the branches and fly above, one carrying a small diamond-shaped object colored pink and yellow. A decorative floral border in pink, green, yellow, and purple frames the entire composition with small dot-like blossoms and vine patterns. The paper shows a slightly aged beige background with visible fold lines.
