Platter, Large decorative platter with flat bottom and edges rising in an arc, set on a low, wide ring foot. Obverse: figural composition in a large tondo overlapping the lower parts of the slightly rising edges — a genre scene of scholars taking a siesta on a sunny summer day on a terrace of a landscape park. High foundations of decoratively bricked boulders rise above the valley of a large river. The terrace with an openwork balustrade is overgrown with grass, large deciduous trees, and banana trees nestled among rocks and boulders. In the center of the terrace is a large table with three scholars seated and a girl beside them. Reverse: mirrored leg decoration — a decorative composition of five pink bats surrounding a blue dragon, combined with plant motifs. 19th century, China. Plate; height 5.8 cm, diameter 44 cm., A round ceramic plate viewed from above with a central circular medallion decorated in blue surrounded by a group of ornamental pink motifs on a white background; the rim area shows a band of pale green tiles with a geometric network of brown lines and a surrounding wide border of scrolling floral and arabesque patterns in blue, green, pink and white; thin dark brown hanging wires cross the rim at three points and form triangular supports; the overall visible colors include white, blue, pale green, pink, brown and a touch of gray.
