Genre scene by Michal Piotr Radziwill 1853–1903, painted 1881. Inscription on the loom indicates it was a gift for his wife Maria née Zawiszów. Oil painting, height 29.0 cm, width 24.4 cm. Painted by Peel after the original by Radziwill — attribution uncertain., A framed painting showing a group of people gathered indoors around a standing man who holds an open book; the man wears a wide-brimmed hat and earth-toned clothing in shades of brown and muted green, and his face is turned toward the group. Several children and adults form a small cluster to the left, wearing garments in colors including brown, beige, cream, pale pink, and dark green, and one child wears a hat with a pale ribbon. Behind the group a doorway and a dark interior are visible with wooden architectural elements in deep brown and olive tones, and an older man leans on the doorway wearing darker clothing with a reddish cap. The floor and surrounding walls show worn, textured surfaces in brown, tan, and gray, and the painting is set in a wide wooden frame of dark maroon and brown.
