Saskia von Uylenburgh 1612–1642, wife of Rembrandt; copy after Rembrandt van Rijn 1606–1669. Half-length, full face portrait, after 1641. Light hair falling on the shoulders and forehead; wearing a beret decorated with stones, a golden dress with a large neckline and a shawl over her shoulders. Around her neck: a string of pearls and a medallion with a blue stone on a chain. Her left arm, bent at the elbow, is decorated with two golden bracelets that support the coat on the chest. Background dark and plain. This is a fragment from Rembrandt’s painting Saskia with a Red Flower; in this portrait the flower is not visible, only the outstretched arm. Portrait, height 64.5 cm, width 54 cm., A framed portrait of a person shown from the waist up wearing a dark head covering and a layered outfit with a shawl; the background is dark gray to black, the frame is brown wood, the person has light skin with pinkish cheeks, light brown hair, and blue-gray eyes, and they wear a few necklaces and a pendant as well as bracelets; their right hand rests on their chest and their expression is calm; visible colors include brown, dark gray, black, light skin tones, pink, light brown, beige, and hints of gold.
