Around his neck is a white scarf, under it a white collar. In the background, a landscape with trees illuminated by moonlight. Early 19th century. Portrait. Height 28.4 cm, width 25.1 cm., A framed painted portrait of a man shown from the chest up wearing a dark coat with a high collar and a pale scarf tied at his neck, his face turned slightly to one side with curly brown hair and sideburns; the background is a muted gray with softer darker shapes behind him. The frame around the painting is metallic gold with an inner decorative trim in a darker gold tone. Visible colors include brown, dark green, black, beige, cream, pale yellow, gray, and gold, with a small spot of red on the coat.
