Bergmann fc. 1818 right. Line drawing printed at the Lithographic Workshop of Gabriel Charton in Geneva. Depicts the alleged tombstone of Boleslaw II the Brave 1039–1081. According to a legend first recorded by Maciej of Miechów in 1521, after the murder of St. Stanislaus Boleslaw lived in penance as a silent monk in Osjak; the tomb adjacent to the church bears the inscription Boleslaus Poloniae occisor sancti Stanislaviae Cracoviensis and the remains of an 11th-century knight were found within. 1818, Geneva; print graphic print; height 32.8 cm, width 24.2 cm., A large off-white sheet with a central rectangular framed drawing showing a decorative panel and a lower plaque; the framed panel contains a tall central figure flanked by several oval vignettes and ornamental scrollwork, all rendered in fine black linework; beneath the panel is a rectangular plaque with a line drawing of a horse on a raised base and a bordered surround; to the left of the framed drawing is a rough vertical stone wall depicted with irregular blocks; the entire composition is outlined with a thin rectangular border and the visible colors are off-white paper, black line drawing, and small pale discolorations in tan.
