The icon is divided into two registers. The upper register shows a procession of saints led by the Mother of God, who are turning to Christ in the upper left corner. In the center of the lower register are Romanos the Melodos, Andrew the Yurodivy with his disciple Epiphanius, Proclus, and Emperor Leo – the latter with his hands folded on his chest. Colors are dominated by gilding, red, blue, and pink. The upper frame features an identifying inscription in cinnabar. 2nd half of the 19th century, Russia. Height 17.5 cm; width 14.5 cm., A rectangular painted panel with a worn gold ground and a narrow red border contains a central scene divided into upper and lower registers. In the upper area a group of robed figures stands beneath an architectural arch while a central haloed figure in dark blue and red is embraced by another haloed figure, and behind them a row of standing haloed figures in muted tones of purple, pink, brown, and blue forms a procession on a cloudlike band. The lower area shows standing haloed figures and clergy in liturgical vestments depicted on raised cushions, with garments in red, gold, green, and pale tones, and a few figures in dark blue and red robes at the right. The surrounding field is largely gilded with areas of flaking and surface wear revealing darker underlayers and traces of red at the edges.
