Icon: St. Theodore with His Sons — David and Constantine. Stroganoff School 1550-?. Attributed author unknown. Depicts three standing figures: in the center the holy monk Theodore, Prince of Smolensk; on either side, in reduced size, his sons Princes David and Constantine. Inscriptions present. Icons; saints; princes. 2nd half of the 18th century, Russia. Icon; height 6.5 cm, width 5.9 cm., An aged rectangular panel shows a worn painted scene with three standing robed figures; the central figure is taller with a dark long robe and a halo, flanked by two smaller figures in patterned garments with halos. The background is mottled with warm tones of gold and brown with areas of red, while the robes include dark black, deep red, and muted orange hues, and there are flecks of lighter beige where the surface has peeled. The panel edges are chipped and frayed, revealing raw wood in pale tan and beige, and there are several areas of cracking and loss across the painted surface.
