On the eight-pointed cross is an image of the Crucifixion. Below the cross on which Christ is suspended is a grotto with Adam's skull and the tree of Seth; at the level of the footstool is a view of Jerusalem; on either side of Christ on a long beam are the sun and the moon. In the upper part, a bust-like image of the Lord of Hosts is depicted, below which is the dove of the Holy Spirit. The relief is deep and the style is rather schematic, somewhat archaizing especially visible in the facial features. The reverse is engraved with the words of a prayer to the Holy Cross and an image of an eight-pointed cross. 19th century, Russia. Cross, height 34.3 cm, width 17.1 cm., A metal cross-shaped object with a stepped, double-bar form, shown against a smooth light gray background; the cross has an aged golden-bronze color with darker brownish patina in recessed areas and along edges, and faint greenish spots in a few places; the surface is decorated with incised linear patterns and shallow engraved motifs creating rectangular panels and bands across the arms and stem, and there is an incised stylized cross motif within a lower panel; the edges are slightly raised forming a framed border around each section, and the overall finish appears matte with subtle sheen on worn high points.
