Plate fragment, unknown northern Egyptian workshop; plate/tableware, painted Coptic pottery, Nile clay; 6th–7th century. Plate fragment with a horizontally formed rim. Red-orange ceramic body with visible inclusions of gold mica and white-yellow limestone particles. Covered with a white engobe, fired beige with pink in places. On the outside, below the rim, a concentric cord impression from the production process. Painted black decoration with red elements, placed inside the vessel, consisting of: - a surrounding band bounded by parallel lines the upper one extends beyond the edge, filled with a wavy line and two rows of dots above and below it; - depiction of a horse or donkey head and part of neck preserved with a short mane, long ears, and short brushstrokes on the body bounded by three parallel lines at the neck transition; - a long leaf with a sharp tip directed toward the animal’s head, located above its back and framed by a red line; - fragment of a floral decoration fruit on a branch? directed toward the animal’s head. Tell Atrib place of discovery; vessel, plate; height 10.5 cm, width 15.0 cm, diameter 35.0 cm edge., A group of broken ceramic fragments forming part of a rim piece, with curved edges and visible cracks where pieces join; the ceramic shows layered surfaces and worn textures with rough breaks. The colors visible include beige, light tan, terracotta, pale pink, and hints of brown and gray against a plain muted gray background.
