Lekythos with a sphinx, unknown Attic workshop. A small Attic red-figure lekythos with a visc. The neck of the vessel is narrow; the belly is round, mounted on a round foot. The central part of the front side of the belly is decorated with an image of a sphinx. The back of the vessel has worn finials. 1st half of the 4th century BC, Attica. Vessel; height 9.4 cm, diameter 6 cm., A worn earthenware vessel with a rounded body, a narrow neck that flares into a wide rim, and a short handle connecting neck to shoulder, showing an uneven, pitted surface with areas of flaking and damage; the colors visible are various shades of brown, tan, black, and some lighter grayish-white patches, with a small raised rim at the base and irregular dark spots and rough texture across the form.
