Wall painting: High Priest Aaron, Nubian workshop; wall painting, censer iconographic, liturgical vestments, Faras Sudan, Old Testament high priest iconographic, arms spread to the sides, in his right hand the priest holds a censer in the shape of a hemispherical cup on a foot suspended on three long chains, in his left hand a leafy branch and a box . A yellow nimbus outlined with a red line around the figure's head. The face is heavily blurred, features invisible. The ankle-length white tunic is decorated with a diagonal red check pattern at thigh level, followed by a light purple stripe with vertical dark purple stripes, a diagonal checkered belt, and then another vertical stripe pattern. The high priest's shoulders are covered by a light purple mantle with darker purple vertical stripes, fastened at the chest with an oval clasp. On his feet, the figure wears dark purple slippers. Original plaster: 224 x 147 cm; wall painting dimensions: height 253 cm, width 184 cm, depth 9 cm; 1st quarter of the 10th century. Weight: unknown., A worn painted figure on a pale, irregularly shaped plaster fragment mounted on a beige backing; the figure has a round halo in shades of yellow and muted red and wears a long robe in deep reddish-brown with yellowish-gold trim, a lighter off-white or cream undergarment, and a patterned band across the waist in yellow and brown tones; the plaster surface shows cracks, chipped areas, and faded pigments with visible texture and mottling in cream, beige, and light brown; a few darker brown areas appear near the hem and feet, and there are subtle traces of reddish and ochre pigments elsewhere.
