Kantharos, Kantharos black-varnished on a cup-shaped foot, vessel; 1st half of the 6th century BC, Etruria Italy; function: goblet for banquets; provenance: repossession Bytom., A dark, two-handled vessel with a shallow bowl and a flared foot sits against a neutral gray background, the vessel appearing predominantly black with subtle variations in dark gray where light reflects, and small areas of worn lighter gray on the handles and rim; the handles form elongated loops rising above the bowl on each side, and the interior and exterior surfaces show a slightly glossy finish with faint scuff marks and texture.
