Kantharos, unknown Boeotian workshop. Physical description: Thin-walled kantharos with straight, slightly flared rim edges; a deep cylindrical bowl with an outer edge. The bowl is set on a high leg with a torus in the middle and a flat foot. Band-like, wide handles with slightly raised edges, protruding above the level of the rim. The outer surface of the foot is slightly concave. Decoration: Vessel entirely covered with black varnish. Technology: Matte varnish of good quality, evenly distributed. Traces of turning visible under the varnish. Notes: Numerous secondary losses visible on the surface. Attributed to the 2nd half of the 5th century BC, Boeotia.
