Lamp decorated with a depiction of a gladiator so-called Samnite, unknown Roman workshop, scenographic gladiator class, gladiators iconography, lighting, oil lamp, single-burner lamp, 2nd half of the 2nd century, Roman Empire 27 BC–476, oil lamp, weight 0.078 kg, A clay oil lamp in shades of reddish-brown and tan with weathered surface texture, showing a round central reservoir framed by concentric raised rings and a circular rim; inside the reservoir is a low-relief human figure wearing a helmet-like headpiece and a draped garment, seated and holding a rectangular object, with a round hole set near the figure; the lamp’s nozzle extends downward in a tapered form with a rounded opening and sculpted curved supports connecting it to the body, and the top edge shows an irregular chipped area.
