Cista container decorated with a depiction of the Dioscuri and Athena. Cylindrical vessel made of sheet metal, decorated with an engraved depiction of the Dioscuri and Athena, 8 figures preserved. Under the rim and at the lower edge are bands of engraved plant decoration. Concave bottom. Legs in the shape of predator's paws, ending in sirens. Slightly convex lid, made of sheet metal, decorated with an engraved depiction of two hippocampi. Trace of a handle in the centre. Cista on 3 legs. Metal vessel. Classified Gallic scenics; Athena mythology; Dioscuri mythology. 4th century BC, Praeneste Italy. Vessel; weight 1.132 kg; height 24.5 cm; diameter 20 cm bottom, 22 cm top., A round, weathered metal disc with a patina of green, brown, orange, red, and dark brown tones, showing a lighter vertical streak near the center; faint incised line decorations form flowing, curved motifs and stylized shapes across the surface; the disc edge is irregular with small chips and a small hole near the rim; the object rests on a clear stand and the background is a plain light gray.
