Cardiophilax – breastplate, Convex bronze disc decorated with an engraving of three concentric circles made by punching sheet metal on the reverse side. Engraving depicting a fantastic bird with two heads and four long legs. 2nd half of the 6th century BC. From Samnium, Southern Italy. Weapon/armor breastplate. Height 18 cm, width 20.5 cm, depth 2 cm, weight 0.344 kg., A circular, flat object sits against a light gray background, showing a rough, uneven surface with heavy corrosion and flaking. The visible area displays a mix of dark brown and reddish-brown rust textures, with patches of tan and beige crusty material layered across the top. Near the lower edge there are areas of green and pale green patina mixed with some white encrustation, and small spots of darker gray and black mottling scattered across the surface. The edges are irregular and chipped, and the surface has pitted, bubbly formations and a few raised, rounded nodules.
