The rim is decorated with a radial ornament and a schematic ivy sprig; the shoulders bear a series of vertical lines. The belly is decorated with figural scenes. Side A: Dionysus holding a cornucopia, accompanied by a satyr and a maenad. Side B: an archer flanked by two helmeted hoplites with round shields. Lid with a pomegranate-shaped handle, decorated with an ivy sprig on the rim. 520–510 BC, Attica. Vessel type: column krater. Weight 1.382 kg. Diameter 19.2 cm 22.5 cm with vices. Height 21.4 cm 22.6 cm with vices., An ancient-style ceramic vessel with a lid and two handles is shown, featuring a rounded body on a flared foot and a knobbed lid; the surface shows worn painted figures and patterns in dark brown to black against a warm terracotta background with areas of lighter beige where the paint has chipped, and there are decorative dotted and linear motifs around the shoulder and base; the handles and rim show similar wear and the lid has a darker top with an unpainted knob, all set against a neutral grey backdrop.
