Kitchen pot, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop. Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC. A kitchen pot with an egg-shaped belly and a rounded bottom, terminating in a low, wide cylindrical neck with a rounded, slightly tilted spout, to which two thickened, horizontal crescent-shaped handles are attached on opposite edges. The outer walls are intentionally roughened at the bottom up to half the height of the vessel and polished above. Traces of soot are visible at the bottom and slightly above. The fabric contains a rich admixture of crushed quartz. Syria; Tell Rad Shakra northeastern Syria. Northern Mesopotamia place of manufacture.
