Kitchen pot, unknown northern Mesopotamian workshop, Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC. A kitchen pot with an egg-shaped belly and rounded bottom. In the upper part the walls bend slightly inwards, forming narrow shoulders that rise to a low, cylindrical, wide neck with a straight, slightly tilted spout. Two slightly thickened horizontal crescent-shaped handles are attached on opposite edges. Outer walls are intentionally roughened at the bottom up to half the vessel’s height and carefully polished above. Traces of soot are visible on the bottom and slightly above. Material: clay; function: kitchen vessel/urn. Findspot: Tell Rad Shakra, northeastern Syria. Dimensions: height 20.5 cm, width 20.7 cm., A round, open ceramic vessel viewed from above with a dark interior and an earthy exterior showing a range of browns and tan; the rim appears rough and textured with some darker speckling, and the background is a muted gray.
