Smoothed and fired in a reduction atmosphere. 1st half of the 3rd millennium BC; Early Jazira III period, Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin, Tell Rad Shakra North-eastern Syria. Function: vessels for oils and ointments; spherical vessel. Material/culture: vice-free vessels; material culture. Height 6.1 cm, width 6.9 cm, weight 85 g., A round, wide-mouthed pot with a bulbous body sits on a clear circular stand; the pot's surface shows a weathered, earthy tan and brown coloration with visible lighter scratch-like marks and a small area of bright red on one side, and the stand and background present shades of clear/translucent and light gray respectively.
