Vessel, unknown Northern Mesopotamian workshop, Early Jazira III period ca. 2600–ca. 2350 BC, metallic ware; spherical, vice-free vessel for oils and ointments. Low vessel with a spherical belly, rounded bottom and low, wide neck with a narrow, upturned spout. The vessel was carefully smoothed and fired in a reduction atmosphere. Syria, Northern Mesopotamia Khabur basin, Tell Rad Shakra. Height 9.4 cm; width 9.7 cm., A rounded clay vessel with a wide rim sits against a gray background, showing a weathered surface in shades of gray, brown, and muted tan with visible fine horizontal striations and areas of lighter and darker discoloration; the vessel has several hairline cracks and repaired joins radiating from the upper portion and rim, with small chips and rough edges around the lip, and a few pale flecks or spots scattered across its body.
