Female votive head, Female head in a wreath, slightly tilted to the right shoulder. Under the wreath are visible regularly arranged locks of hair, framing a low, triangular forehead and temples. Ears are exposed. Deep-set eyes, almost flat in the elaborately worked eyelids, small nose, small mouth with fleshy lips, short, strongly defined chin, full cheeks. 3rd century BC, Etruria, votive. Height 26 cm, width 16.5 cm, depth 13.5 cm, weight 2.1 kg., A weathered terracotta sculpted head displayed against a plain light gray background, showing a stylized face with closed or faintly defined eyes, a straight nose, and a slightly parted mouth; curly hair frames the forehead and temples and a rounded caplike form rests atop the head; the neck is elongated and cylindrical, ending in an uneven base that sits on the surface; the surface texture is rough with small pits and abrasion marks, and the visible colors include shades of warm brown, reddish-brown, tan, gray, and small specks of off-white.
