Vessel with hieratic inscription, Egyptian pottery ceramic conical vessel tapering toward the bottom, irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted, upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with a layer of engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower part of the belly. Fairly well preserved with slight damage to the rim. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC. Height 13.9 cm; diameter lip 5.9 cm; diameter 8 cm. Analogies: Petrie Dendera; Abydos, Hope Akhmim, Reisner Mycerinus; Naga ed-Der, Brunton Qau and Badari, Mace Naga ed-Der II, Keiser, Avila, Dreyer, Jaritz, Laskowska-Kusztal — earlier parallels dated to 4th–5th Dynasty., A single weathered clay vessel with an elongated rounded body and a slightly flared rim, shown against a plain gray background; the vessel surface is rough and pitted with visible texture and small imperfections, exhibiting a range of earthy tones including light brown, tan, beige, and subtle patches of darker brown and muted gray, with a few faint reddish and purplish areas and small darker spots.
