Vessel with hieratic inscription, Egyptian pottery ceramic conical vessel tapering toward the bottom, irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height; narrow, sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded rim slightly widening; pointed bottom. Handmade, upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Surface even, outer probably covered with a layer of engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on lower part of the belly. Well preserved. Analogies cited; earlier dated to the Old Kingdom ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC. Find from Edfu. Dimensions: height 14.9 cm; rim diameter 5.7 cm; belly diameter 8 cm., A round earthenware vessel seen from above with a wide dark opening at its center, the body showing a rough textured surface in shades of brown and reddish-brown with small pits and uneven patches, set against a solid gray background.
