Vessel, Egyptian pottery; Vessel with a conical belly, widest in its upper part approx. 4/5 of the vessel's height. Rounded bottom. Irregularly marked shoulders—clearly sloping on one side, short and almost horizontal on the opposite. Straight, slightly tapering rim. Hand-made vessel of not very well-worked Nile clay with numerous organic inclusions and limestone particles visible on the surface. Surface uneven with numerous uneven depressions; color brown. Quite well preserved—cracks on the surface result from poor clay kneading. ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC Old Kingdom, Edfu; vessel; height 38 cm; diameter 11.7 cm rim, 15.7 cm body., A roughly spherical, textured object with an uneven, pitted surface in shades of tan, beige, brown, and muted orange, with small patches of gray and faint bluish tones; the object sits against a uniform light gray background.
