Vessel, Egyptian pottery, Type HS vessel of conical, slender shape, widest at about 3/4 of the height. Shoulders wide, almost horizontal, slightly sloping. Neck wide, short, funnel-shaped in its lower part, widening towards the rim from about half its height. Rim wide, flat in the upper part, slightly rounded at the bottom, slightly asymmetrical. Bottom flat, slightly asymmetrical. Neck made separately and attached to the shoulders. Surface even. Lower part finished to approximately 3/4 of its height using a knife or similar tool. Outer surface and inner surface of the rim and neck covered with a layer of dark red engobe and polished. Color dark red. Vessel reconstructed from many original fragments; gaps filled with plaster. c. 2686–c. 2181 BC Old Kingdom, Edfu. Vessel; height 24.8 cm, rim diameter 8.9 cm, shoulder diameter 10.3 cm, bottom diameter 4.1 cm., A tall, narrow clay vessel with a flared rim and a slightly tapered neck leading to a rounded shoulder and a long, conical body; the surface appears textured with small pits and irregularities and shows an overall earthy reddish-brown color with areas of darker brown and subtle variations in tone, set against a neutral gray background.
