Vessel with hieratic inscription, Egyptian ceramic conical vessel tapering toward the bottom, handcrafted with the upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Narrow, sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, flaring rim; pointed bottom. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. At the widest diameter three shallow horizontal incised lines two 0.2 cm apart, the third 0.5 cm from the second, made before firing. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower body. Rim slightly damaged. Old Kingdom, Edfu; height 16 cm, diameter 6.3 cm rim, diameter 9.4 cm body., A round, roughly spherical object with a textured, earthy surface in shades of tan and light brown floats against a smooth grey background; the object shows small pits and irregularities on its surface and a few darker brown spots, with a curved area near the top that has traces of red pigment.
