Vessel with hieratic inscription. Clay ceramic hand-made vessel, turned in the upper part neck, spout. Conical shape tapering toward a pointed bottom, irregular, widest at approximately 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; rounded, slightly flaring spout. Smooth surface, light red color. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower part of the belly. Quite well preserved; rim slightly damaged. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC. Height 15.7 cm; diameter rim 5.7 cm; diameter belly 8.5 cm. Comparative parallels cited from Petrie, Reisner, Brunton, Mace, Keiser and others., A large rounded ceramic vessel with a tapered pointed base and a short flared neck, shown against a plain light gray background; the vessel surface is textured and uneven with visible small pits and rough patches, and its color is predominantly earthy brown with subtle variations of tan and ochre and tiny specks of darker brown.
