Vessel with hieratic inscription. Conical clay vessel tapering toward the bottom; irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, only slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted: upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with engobe. In the widest part three shallow horizontal lines placed over a space of approx. 0.8 cm. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. In the lower part of the body are remains of a hieratic inscription in black sht. Vessel complete, well-preserved. Comparative parallels cited; earlier dated to the Old Kingdom ca. 2686–ca. 2181 BC, find site Edfu. Dimensions: height 14.4 cm; rim diameter 5.4 cm; body diameter 8.4 cm., A top-down view of a round, open-mouthed clay vessel with a rough, textured surface in shades of brown and tan set against a uniform light gray background, showing the deep dark interior and the uneven rim with small pits and variations in color.
