Vessel with hieratic inscription. Conical clay vessel tapering toward the bottom, irregular; widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, only slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim; pointed bottom. Handcrafted; upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, exterior probably covered with engobe. In the widest part three shallow horizontal lines over approx. 0.8 cm. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black sht on the lower body. Vessel complete, well-preserved. Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BCE. Height 14.4 cm; rim diameter 5.4 cm; body diameter 8.4 cm. Comparative parallels cited to pottery from Dendera, Akhmim, Mycerinus-period contexts, Qau and Badari, Naga ed-Der, and Abydos., A single large clay vessel with an elongated tapered body and a rounded shoulder, shown against a plain gray background. The surface of the vessel is rough and pitted, with irregular texture and small inclusions visible. The colors present are various shades of brown and tan, with lighter beige patches and some subtle white speckling on parts of the lower area. The rim is slightly flared and shows a smoother banding with faint horizontal tool marks. The overall shape narrows toward the base, ending in a rounded point.
