Vessel with hieratic inscription. Conical clay vessel tapering to a pointed bottom; irregular, widest at approx. 3/4 of the height. Narrow, slightly sloping shoulders; short, wide neck; very gently rounded, slightly flaring rim. Handcrafted; upper part shoulders, neck, rim turned. Smooth surface, externally probably covered with an engobe. Made of Nile clay NB2 Vienna System. Remains of a hieratic inscription in black on the lower part of the belly. Complete and well preserved. Comparative parallels cited; earlier dated to the 4th–5th Dynasty; Old Kingdom, ca. 2686–2181 BC. Dimensions: height 12.9 cm; rim dia. 5.5 cm; body dia. 7.8 cm., A roughly oval, tapered clay vessel with a narrow rounded rim, showing a weathered, textured surface in shades of beige, tan, brown, and muted reddish tones, set against a plain gray background; the vessel has a bulbous upper body that narrows to a pointed base and exhibits small pits, surface irregularities, and variations in color and roughness.
