Jug with biconical belly. Vessel is widest at about half its height; shoulders broad, not very sloping. Neck wide, slightly widening toward the spout, its height about 1/3 of total. Spout profiled, irregular, slightly raised and extended on one side forming a small secondary spout; almost triangular in cross-section with ~1 mm indentation at centre of outer profile. Bottom very slightly rounded. Made of Nile clay NB1, Vienna System. Neck was made separately and joined; joint traces erased. Outer surface smoothed, covered with engobe and polished. Inner surface smoothed except for the neck, which was also covered with engobe and polished. Color reddish-brown. Condition: quite well preserved; rim slightly chipped in two places; engobe worn off in places on outer surface. Provenance: Edfu — local workshop. Chronology/style: Old Kingdom comparative types ca. 2686–2181 BC. Comparative example: Reisner, Mycerinus, fig. 69 type XIX, XX, vessel height 17.4 cm, rim Ø 8.1 cm, body Ø 15 cm, base Ø 8.6 cm., A single terracotta-colored clay vessel with a rounded body that tapers toward a narrower base and rises into a short, slightly flared neck topped by an irregular, chipped rim; the surface shows a weathered, matte texture with patches of lighter, sandy beige where the outer layer has worn away and a few small dark specks and abrasions scattered across the body, all set against a plain medium-gray background.
