Protoma bull head relief mask. Gold; repoussé, granulation, filigree, soldering. Central nostril area with granulation and filigree; cheeks and top with filigree; eyes, nostrils and muzzle repoussé and bordered with filigree. Small ears and plastically modeled horns horns soldered on. Reverse closed with an undecorated gold sheet with an irregular hole in two-thirds of its height from removal of a fastening element. Ca. 1450–1100 BC Middle Elamite period ?; alternative proposed datings include Achaemenid period 600–539 BC and second half of the 2nd millennium BC. Origin: Elam/Iran. Decoration. Height 9.5 cm; width 7.8 cm; depth 2.5 cm; weight 48 g., A golden decorative mask in the shape of an animal head set against a black background, featuring a textured surface made of many small circular patterns and smooth raised areas, with a pair of curved horns wrapped in a fine coil-like texture, prominent sculpted eye shapes and a pronounced snout, and visible colors including gold tones and black.
